Here at Sonkist Aussies, we've only ever produced a litter when we plan to keep something for our show program and to be part of our family.
With that in mind, we breed seldomly (approximately every 3-5 years) and only after careful consideration of the traits of the sire and dam, thorough health screening, pedigree evaluation, and temperament.
Our puppies, when available, are placed in companion homes (with families, not for breeding with contracts requiring spay/neuter), after an extensive interview process. Puppies are not available for show or breeding homes because we want our puppies to be members of a family.
We are however very proud of the quality of our dogs and we showcase their structure, movement, and talent in conformation and performance sports. We proudly show our dogs in conformation and you'll find Sonkist aussies competing in conformation and performance events with a very small set of friends who have the same philosophy we do.
Before you commit to adding an Aussie to your home and family, remember that they are an active breed and need mental and physical stimulation. If you don't give it to them, they'll find it on their own (and especially as puppies can be destructive...fun, and adorable, but anything is fair game). Aussies are very smart, learn quickly, love to please, and need proper socialization from an early age to ensure your puppy grows up to be a good canine citizen. After having these dogs in my life for almost 35 years, I can't imagine life without them.
We have no litters planned at this time. Should that change, those plans will be announced here.
